Science Night at FSU Scheduled

In conjunction with the North Carolina Science Festival September 11-26, Fayetteville State University’s (FSU) Department of Natural Science will hold “Science Night at FSU” on Wednesday, September 15, 2010.  The event is free and open to the public.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m.  Slated to occur is a demonstration of the electron microprobe in Room 117 of the Lyons Science Building.  The electron microprobe can magnify an item 300,000 times its normal size.  A robotics demonstration will be held in the lobby of the FSU Planetarium, and there will be a tour of the Forensic Lab in Room 241 of the Lyons Science Annex.  Also scheduled is a walking tour of the FSU Biological Reserve, and poster presentations of student research in the first- and second-floor lobby areas of the Lyons Science Annex.

From 6 to 7 p.m., a presentation entitled “Exploring Coral Reefs” will be held in Room 340 of the Lyons Science Annex.  At 7:30 is an Astronomy Open House in the FSU Planetarium, and at 8:30 p.m., weather permitting, the observatory will be open.
