Fayetteville State University Bronco Debate Team Hosts Successful Viewing of 1st Presidential Debate, Three More Debate Viewings Still to Come
This past Wednesday, October 4th, the FSU Bronco Debate Team hosted a viewing of the 1st Presidential Debate between President Barack Obama and Candidate Mitt Romney. Students, faculty and members of the community watched the debates in Shaw Auditorium and stayed afterward to ask questions of a faculty panel that featured Dr. Jonathan Breitzer (Assistant Professor of Chemistry), Dr. Todd Frobish (Interim Chair of the Department of Communication), Dr. Stanley Johnson (Associate Professor of History), and Dr. Noran L. Moffett (Associate Dean of the School of Education).
In an attempt to increase community understanding of the issues of importance in this Presidential election season, the FSU Bronco Debate Team will host viewings of the two remaining 2012 Presidential Debates and one 2012 Vice-Presidential Debate. The dates of the debates are:
Oct. 11 – Vice-Presidential Debate on Foreign and Domestic Policy
Oct. 16 – Presidential Debate on Foreign and Domestic Policy
Oct. 22 – Presidential Debate on Foreign Policy
The debate viewings will be held in Shaw Auditorium in the SBE Building on the campus of Fayetteville State University. The doors will open for each debate at 8:45pm with the debates starting promptly
at 9pm. Following the conclusion of each debate at approximately 10:30pm the floor will be opened for a half of an hour of public discussion on the issues of the evening. Each debate discussion will feature a panel of Fayetteville State University faculty who will answer audience questions regarding the issued covered in that debate. The debate viewings are free and open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
