It is Chancellor James Anderson’s belief that Fayetteville State University (FSU) has some of the most loyal and dedicated alumni in the world.  To show them he appreciates their efforts and all that they do for their alma mater, he is going to hit the road with his “FSU on Tour”, trips designed to make face-to-face contact with the institution’s supporters.

“We have alumni all over the country who love and support Fayetteville State University,” Chancellor Anderson said.  “They not only come to homecoming and other significant annual events, but they also donate to the institution and they genuinely want the university to continue on the positive trajectory that it is headed.  These tours will be my way of thanking them in person and showing them how much I appreciate their support of FSU and of me.”

The first stop on Chancellor Anderson’s tour is Friday, January 25, 2013, when he and First Lady Nancy Anderson visit one of FSU’s newest chapters – Atlanta.  More than 50 FSU alumni and supporters will gather at The Commerce Club, also known as the 191 Club, to hear from Chancellor Anderson.  In addition to a brief university update, Chancellor Anderson also will speak about the upcoming $25 million Capital Campaign and ways alumni can help recruit the best and brightest students.  All alumni and friends are invited to attend.

“These tours will be great for FSU,” said Sherrill Lewis, president of the Atlanta Chapter of the FSU National Alumni Association.  “They will help us increase our brand recognition and awareness and marketing.  Also, they have a high potential for identifying high-level students who would like to attend FSU.”

Lewis, who has been president of the Atlanta Chapter since 2010, said he also hopes the tours can put Chancellor Anderson in contact with potential donors.

“There may be some opportunities for corporate sponsorship and collecting funds to support the institution,” Lewis said.  “From what I understand, this is the first stop on his FSU road show and we feel honored that he is coming to visit our chapter.”

Chapters wishing to host Chancellor Anderson for “FSU on Tour” are encouraged to contact the Office of Alumni Affairs at (910) 672-1287 or email mbrown38@uncfsu.edu.  There is no guarantee visits will be made, but consideration will be given to all chapters that make a request.

FSU is the second-oldest public institution in North Carolina. A member of the University of North Carolina System, FSU has nearly 6,000 students and offers degrees in more than 60 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
